It would be a shock--and an act of treason--if all of us are not Clear Creek basketball fans. But, what about your favorite college team? How about all of you telling us the team you follow so we will know whether to cheer or boo.
I have always been a Baylor fan although in recent years both the football and men's basketball teams have been plumb awful--and that's an understatement. I know personnel and follow the Bears from game to game. Baylor has a strong baseball program and I attend some of those games. I particularly did so when Clear Creek alums Steven White and Mark McCormick pitched for that team. I check Baylor websites practically every day and frequently let their fans know that, "Them Creek guys can flat chunk."
Until I got acquainted with Ed Davis through this blog, I never knew that he graduated from Baylor and has been a close follower of the team, especially since he now lives in Waco. Lynn Davis refuses to join us on the blog but I also learned that he is a Baylor fan--and gets extra credit because he is also a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. Surely Buddy Carlisle is because he played at Baylor and perhaps Coach is too since he was there a semester and had two sons graduate from there.
Bubba Mathis confessed the other day that he is a Texas Longhorn fan and that certainly deserves some boos. Ask any Baylor fan. Paul Timmins is a Texas A&M fan but that is legal because he was a good player for the Aggies. I wonder if Bill Doty follows Rice for the same reason?
How about the rest of you?
Dan, how can you NOT be a Longhorn fan after their winning the most recent baseball and football national titles, and now competing for one in basketball, too??! No other school has done that before. At least I don't recall it. In fact, can't remember the last time I saw a school in the top 10 in all three major sports in consecutive seasons this way! Has that EVER happened before?

Bubba, you must come from a bad family with such reasoning.
I am supposed to suddently switch to Texas because they win a national championship even though I have been a Baylor fan forever? Surely ye jest.
Yeah, I really loved that Texas national baseball championship since the Longhorns beat my Bears twice in Omaha after Baylor had been 4-0 against them going in.
And Clear Creek ex Mark McCormick was Baylor's starting pitcher in both games. Are you telling me you were for the Longhorns then? Say it ain't so Bubba.

Dan,
I am a totally dedicated Purple and white TCU fan. Needless to say I have a grandson who is a starting linebacker for the frogs. He was selected to the second team All-American team this year. He was a red-shirted freshman this previous year. His name is Jason Phillips.

Great to hear from you, Arthur. How's your memory? In the football season of '54, our B team, on which I was QB, had a rare scrimmage against the A team, on which you played. The scrimmage was held on the football field, not a practice field. High cotton for us B teamers. I remember like it was yesterday going back to pass. You must have been playing defensive end. You blindsided me and I still hurt. My question is not so much if you remember that, but who was the so and so in front of you that was supposed to have blocked you? Bet it was Kenneth Chaviers, wasn't it?
